An Arizona mom accused of killing her two children with a meat cleaver was found guilty Monday by a jury.
Yui Inoue was convicted on two counts of first degree murder, two counts of child abuse, and one count of disorderly conduct, AZFamily reported.
According to a report by CrimeOnline, a 7-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were discovered deceased after Inoue visited a Tempe police station in May 2021. She informed officers that she had been hearing voices instructing her to harm the children.
Prior to the tragic incident, police disclosed that Inoue had made threats to stab her husband during a disagreement. Despite this, her husband did not perceive any immediate danger to the children and opted to spend the night in his car. Although the police had been called to the residence earlier, they departed without taking action, leaving the children unharmed at that time.
In court, the prosecution said that Inoue killed the children to get back at her husband in their ensuing divorce.
The children were found with multiple chops and cuts on their bodies, which were covered in trash, boxes, and a mattress.
