Police say the West End man was among family and detectives are still trying to figure out where it all went wrong.

“My understanding is that the victim has attempted to remove himself from the crime scene,” Acting Detective Inspector Murray O’Connell said.

“He was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital but sadly he succumbed of his injuries and passed away a short time later.”

A 22-year-old man and 45-year-old woman were taken into police custody.

O’Connell mentioned that they consider them as part of the extended family, but they are currently in the process of figuring out the family dynamics.

“The knife has been found, what we believe is the weapon that was used in this attack.”

Police say the three had been out socialising earlier in the evening, with investigators working to determine how this night turned so violent

“I would hope there would be some charges soon, but it’s too early to say at this stage,” O’Connell said.
