World reacts to death of Pope Francis

More tributes are being issued by world leaders mourning the death of Pope Francis.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei issued a statement about his fellow countryman.

“Despite differences that seem minor today, having been able to know him in his goodness and wisdom was a true honour for me,” Milei said.

As the President, as an Argentine, and above all, as a man of faith, I say goodbye to the Holy Father and offer my support to all those who are affected by this unfortunate news.

Milei accompanied his statement with a photo of Pope Francis waving an Argentina flag.

Meanwhile, leaders of largely non-Catholic countries have praised the Pope’s commitment to interfaith unity.

Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum mentioned that the Pope’s legacy of modesty and promoting unity among different faiths will continue to be a source of inspiration for countless communities worldwide.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pope Francis as a “pioneer of interfaith harmony, peace, and the promotion of humanity”.

And Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted images to the two embracing.

During this difficult time of mourning and reflection, I extend my deepest sympathies to the global Catholic community. Pope Francis will forever be remembered by millions across the globe as a symbol of empathy, modesty, and spiritual fortitude.

“From a young age, he devoted himself towards realising the ideals of Lord Christ.

“He diligently served the poor and downtrodden. For those who were suffering, he ignited a spirit of hope.”
