During her campaign trail in Perth, Coalition frontbencher Jacinta Price expressed her desire to “make Australia great again,” drawing parallels to US President Donald Trump’s famous slogan. She made this statement while attending a party rally at the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club alongside opposition leader Peter Dutton and Michaelia Cash.
However, Price later claimed that she was unaware of making such a reference and stated that she did not realize she had used those words. Despite this clarification, her initial comment stirred some attention and sparked discussions about patriotism and national identity.
At the rally, Price praised the party’s candidates across the country, emphasizing her pride in standing by them. She reiterated her goal of bringing Australia back to its former glory and putting the country back on the right path.
“If we do that, we can get our country back on track.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also on the campaign trail in Western Australia today alongside Premier Roger Cook, where he promised $60 million to expand ferry services in Perth.
The major party leaders spent the day rallying voters ahead of both their official campaign launches tomorrow.
Voters will head to the ballot boxes for the federal election on May 3.
