“Taking into consideration humanitarian aspects, the Russian side has announced an Easter ceasefire from 18:00 to 00:00 from Sunday to Monday. I have given the order for all military activities to cease during this period,” remarked Putin during a meeting with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, as quoted by the Kremlin’s Press Service.
Russian and North Korean forces have managed to recapture a significant portion of the region, nearly stripping Kyiv of a crucial leverage point that Ukrainian troops had seized in a surprise move last year.
Additionally, the Ukrainian air force disclosed that Russia launched 87 explosive drones and decoys in the most recent series of attacks overnight leading into Saturday.
It said 33 of them were intercepted and another 36 were lost, likely having been electronically jammed.
Russian attacks damaged farms in the Odesa region and sparked fires in the Sumy region overnight, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said on Saturday. Fires were contained, and no casualties were reported.
Russia’s Ministry of Defence, meanwhile, said its air defence systems shot down two Ukrainian drones overnight into Saturday.
