'He is a really bad guy': String of jurors excused from Weinstein trial

Mark Axelowitz, an actor starring as a Manhattan prosecutor in Robert De Niro’s latest film The Alto Knights, was among over a dozen individuals who indicated they might not be impartial when the judge inquired.

“I don’t like the guy, he is a really bad guy,” Axelowitz told a reporter after being dismissed from consideration.

Anyone who raises a hand to either question will be sent home, Farber has said.

The remaining candidates will be grouped in or around the jury box in batches of 24, where they will face further queries regarding their background, occupation, and any connections to law enforcement or past crime victims.

During the selection process, both the prosecutors and Harvey Weinstein’s defense team will have 40 minutes to interrogate each group of 24 potential jurors. This time is utilized to delve deeper into previous responses, address any raised issues, and identify potential biases.

Either side can ask the judge to dismiss a potential juror. If too many jurors are dismissed, another group will be brought in and the process will repeat until the full jury is seated.
