A missing 15-year-old Pennslyvania girl who vanished three months ago was found safe in Georgia on Monday.
Enci Wu, also known as “Aubrey,” was discovered in Jasper, Georgia, after locals identified her and alerted the authorities. Northampton County District Attorney Stephen Baratta mentioned that social service agencies are currently looking into Wu’s family situation to determine whether she will be returning home, as reported by Lehigh Valley Live.
Baratta indicated, “We have been made aware of several allegations concerning potential criminal activities or behaviors of concern. There have been claims on social media related to human trafficking, as well as mentions of past and present relationships involving Enci. These allegations are presently under investigation, and we are unable to provide any further details at this time.”
Wu went missing from Palmer County, Pennsylvania, on January 10, 2025. Her parents mentioned that there were issues within the household, particularly some restrictions imposed by them, which might have prompted Wu to leave. Baratta suggested that these restrictions could have been overly strict, leading to the involvement of social services.
“Enci deserves privacy,” he commented.
Officials have not disclosed how she got to Georgia, who she stayed with, and what transpired while she was there. Barratta also claimed that Wu changed her appearance, including lightening her hair, according to WFMZ.
The prosecutor said Wu continued to use social media while missing. Though she remained unaccounted for, the social media posts reportedly led investigators to her.
No criminal charges have been filed. Baratta said an investigation is ongoing.
