Authorities searched a Minnesota landfill on Friday amid the ongoing disappearance of a 16-year-old boy who vanished last month.
KARE news reported that various agencies, such as the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI, are currently conducting a search at the Elk River Landfill to locate Jordan Collins Jr. Collins disappeared from Columbia Heights on May 8, and authorities suspect that he may have been abducted.
Sheriff Brad Wise mentioned that there has been no activity on Collins’ social media accounts since he went missing, and his mother revealed that his phone has only been used for three minutes on May 11. Additionally, Collins’ mother stated that her son had gone to visit his father and was supposed to return before he mysteriously disappeared.
“We have a specific target in mind for the search, and we will continue our efforts until we either locate it or confirm its absence,” stated Anoka County Commander Wayne Heath in an interview with KARE.
Officials have not disclosed whether Friday’s search means the case has transitioned to a recovery mission. Heath said the landfill search could continue into the weekend.
Collins was described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, and having black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white ribbed tank top with red and black plaid pants.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s tip line at 877-996-6222.
