A 16-year-old Florida boy was arrested late last month for killing his ex-girlfriend, whose body was found on a trail.
A hiker discovered the body of Abbriella Elliott, 16, on a trail close to the Cypress Lakes Preserve on March 27. Elliott’s parents shared with WTSP that their daughter had ended her relationship with her boyfriend about six to eight months prior to her tragic death.
Sheriff Al Nienhuis of Hernando County mentioned that a witness informed the authorities that Elliott had left her home late at night to meet with the individual likely responsible for her demise. Notably, Elliott resided near the location where her body was found, as reported by WTSP.
Nienhuis said the teen probably killed Elliott with an “edged weapon.”
Describing the incident, Sheriff Nienhuis stated, “The circumstances surrounding this death indicated a high level of emotion and violence, leading us to believe it was not a random occurrence. The nature of the crime was extremely brutal.”
The teen boy is in the process of being charged with first-degree murder, though it is unclear whether he will be prosecuted as an adult. Officials have not disclosed his identity, presumably due to his age.
