Donald Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, wasted no time in making her mark during her second day on the job. She directly criticized Bishop Mariann Budde, who had given a sermon at the President’s prayer service, accusing her of spreading falsehoods.
Leavitt went as far as calling for an apology from Budde for urging Trump to show compassion towards Americans in her address. The Press Secretary expressed her shock and dismay at the bishop’s remarks, stating that they were both disturbing and inaccurate.
Leavitt, the youngest-ever press secretary, blasted the Episcopal leader in an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday.
“It was supposed to be a unifying and bipartisan church service,” Leavitt slammed.
In Leavitt’s opinion, Bishop Budde had inappropriately used her platform to deliver what she considered to be deceitful information. She accused Budde of misrepresenting the truth and misusing her role within the church.
“She should apologize to President Trump for the lies that she told. It’s despicable.”
Leavitt’s fiery rant impressed Fox News viewers, who praised the new press secretary as a fresh perspective.
Her demand echoes Trump, who also lashed out at the bishop in a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning.
