The mother of Grant Solomon, a young baseball prodigy who tragically died in a strange road accident, has been taken into custody for allegedly trying to hire someone to murder her former husband, a TV anchor in Nashville.
Angelia Huffines Solomon, aged 55, openly expressed her desire to see her ex-husband eliminated, claiming he was undeserving of life, during an exclusive interview back in 2023 now being unveiled by the Daily Mail.
Since the tragic event that claimed her 18-year-old son Grant’s life in July 2020, Angelia has been tirelessly seeking answers regarding the incident where he was fatally struck by his own vehicle on the roadside in Tennessee.
She has repeatedly pointed the finger at the only known witness – her ex-husband and former WSMV morning anchor Aaron Solomon.
Grant had been on his way to see his father for a private pitching session at the Ward Performance Institute in Gallatin, about 50 miles away from his home in Franklin, on the morning he died.
Less than 10 minutes after arriving, Aaron called 911 and said his son was trapped under his white Toyota pick-up truck at the foot of a ditch.
The high school senior was pronounced dead shortly after. The death was later ruled an accident and the case was closed.

Angelia had been fighting for answers over the death of her 18-year-son Grant for years

Aaron Solomon worked as a radio and TV presenter in Nashville for years before quitting the industry in 2014. He was the only known witness of his son Grant’s accident
But Angelia claimed there was no proper police investigation, no reconstruction of the scene and no autopsy or toxicology performed. She has repeatedly begged police to reopen the investigation but to no avail.
Her surviving daughter, Gracie, now 18, also accused her father of historic sex abuse in a YouTube video published in May 2021.
Aaron Solomon has never been charged with any crimes and emphatically denied the claims made by his ex-wife and daughter.
He sued Angelia and four others for defamation for spreading what he claimed were unfounded allegations in May 2021.
But in May 2023, Angelia made a series of chilling remarks in an interview with this reporter, where she described the ‘hellish rage’ she felt toward Aaron and how she wanted him to disappear permanently.
When asked what justice would look like for her with regard to her son’s case, Angelia said it would involve the ‘same thing’ happening to Aaron as to what happened to her son.
‘That he’d be gone,’ she said. ‘Gracie wants him to be locked up and that he doesn’t ever walk free, but in order to feel totally protected and peaceful and free […] he would have to be gone.
‘I don’t really know at what point that will happen. You know, life cycles and things like that.’
Angelia added: ‘He deserves the worst […] he deserves the death penalty, he deserves the chair.
‘What he did to both of my children he doesn’t deserve to be on this Earth,’ she alleged.
‘I think God has my back on that – he’s a danger to society.’

Angie Huffines Solomon, 55, was arrested on Friday after allegedly attempting to hire an undercover cop disguised as a hitman to kill her ex-husband

Grant Solomon died in July 2020 in a mysterious, single vehicle accident. His father claimed the boy’s truck ran him over as he tried to get a baseball bat out the trunk and dragged him down a hill and into a ditch

For years, Angie has been lobbying police to investigate the death of her son, Grant Solomon (right), who died in 2020. She accused her ex, former WSMV news anchor Aaron Solomon of foul play

Police said that Angelia was arrested on Friday afternoon after asking a ‘hitman’ to put her ex ‘underground’
Then last Friday, Angelia was arrested after meeting with an undercover police officer posing as a ‘hitman’ in the parking lot of the Cool Springs Mall, Franklin, according to an affidavit of complaint obtained by the Daily Mail.
Angelia allegedly told the cop she wanted her ex-husband to ‘disappear and be put underground’, adding that his death would provide her daughter with access to a trust fund.
She was arrested and charged with with solicitation to commit first-degree murder against Aaron Solomon.
DailyMail.com first reported on the mysterious death of Grant Solomon in March 2024 after Angelia made repeated claims that police failed to conduct a thorough investigation, leading to a hasty judgement on the cause.
She shared a document with the Daily Mail, allegedly signed by Aaron, showing he had declined an autopsy or post-mortem examination to be conducted on his son.
In Aaron’s call to 911, he can be heard telling the operator that ‘his son’s truck backed over him and dragged him into the ditch and the truck is on top of him,’ according to audio obtained by this publication.
He then says: ‘Oh my god, oh my god […] He is underneath the vehicle. It is a white truck. That is my son […] somehow it backed up. Oh my god […] this is not good […] I guess he didn’t have it in park […] it wasn’t engaged […] the brakes.’
On the call he tells the operator there are three other people at the scene helping him, and the operator instructs him to check whether Grant is breathing.
He routinely breaks from the conversation with the operator, appearing to address someone talking to him at the scene, though no other voices are heard on the call.
Aaron also relays the operator’s instructions, saying ‘is he facing up or down?’ to an unknown person.
Aaron is then heard saying that Grant is face-up, and blood is coming from his mouth.
At one point, Aaron raises his voice as he tells Grant to turn his face to the side, if he can, while the operator urges Aaron not to move him.
According to a later incident report obtained by the Daily Mail, Grant was found by emergency responders lying face-up on a stack of rocks at the bottom of a drainage ditch underneath the truck’s front two tires.

Injuries listed for Grant included a laceration to the back of his head, a blow to the jaw and bruising on his hip and leg

Aaron gave a statement to the Gallatin Police Department, claiming he was looking at a work email when he looked up to see his son’s truck rolling down the hill
In his statement to police, Aaron said he and Grant were parked side-by-side outside the facility.
‘I was still in my car, but noticed my son got out to get his baseball gear out of the back of his truck,’ he said.
‘I looked down to check a work email and the next thing I know I hear and see the truck rolling backwards into the ditch. I get out of my car to try to find my son and saw that he was trapped underneath the truck and immediately called 911.’
The three individuals referenced by Aaron in his call to 911 were not mentioned in the police report and have never been identified or come forward.
Workers at the Ward Performance Institute told police they didn’t have any surveillance cameras on the outside of the building to capture what happened.
In their incident report Gallatin PD stated: ‘Vehicle one was stopped in the parking lot 1357 Highway 109 South. The owner of vehicle one, exited the truck and was subsequently struck by truck as it rolled down the parking lot.’
‘Vehicle one [dragged] the owner into the drainage ditch where it came to rest. The owner was trapped underneath.’
Grant’s cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force trauma and the manner was reported as accidental.
He was officially declared dead less than an hour after Aaron called 911.
In her May 2023 interview, Angelia raised questions about her ex-husband’s recollection of events and claimed the injuries Grant suffered were inconsistent with someone who had been dragged across a parking lot and into a ditch by a heavy vehicle.
Sharing an EMS report detailing Grant’s injuries, Angelia noted that Grant had suffered only a bruise on the upper thigh, a bruise on his hip, a blow to the jaw, and a laceration to the back of his skull.
‘It’s not possible to be dragged as far as he was, across the asphalt, without suffering significant drag marks,’ she claimed.
‘The truck would’ve been hot too, [but] there were no burn marks, no bruising, there was no skin loss, and there were no marks on his hands.
‘One thing about Grant is he would’ve fought beneath that truck like hell […] and his clothes were perfectly clean and weren’t dirty. He wasn’t run over by those wheels,’ she further claimed.
Angelia claimed there had been a lot of friction between her son and Aaron in the weeks leading up to his death.
Grant had reportedly confided in his girlfriend that, once he turned 18, he wanted to expose his father’s alleged abuses in court and gain custody of his sister, both Angelia and Gracie claimed.
In 2023, Angelia was lobbying for an independent investigation to be opened outside of Tennessee. She had also hired her own private investigator and was trying to have her son’s remains exhumed and an autopsy conducted.

Angelia has previously been vocal about her suspicions regarding her son Grant’s (left) death

The Franklin Police Department said that Angelia is in custody on a $500,000 bond

In light of Angelia’s renewed allegations, Sumner County District Attorney Ray Whitley called Grant Solomon’s death a ‘parking lot accident’ and said his office would not be reopening the investigation.
‘It’s been looked into and the investigation has been reopened before. There is no basis for a homicide charge or no criminal act here,’ he said.
‘It is just a horrible accident, and I am really sorry that it happened, but it’s not a criminal case so there is nothing we are going to go forward with.
‘Angie Solomon, I know she has advanced this petition and she has stated what she thinks the facts are, and they’re not necessarily the true facts, and there’s nothing we have been able to find whatsoever that would support a criminal prosecution.’
Whitely refused to disclose what evidence had led him to that decision.
‘I’m not going into the details. I don’t want to debate that at all,’ Whitley told the Daily Mail’s Ruth Bashinsky.
‘All I can say is that it’s been looked into and I’ve asked the police department to look into it again – which they have done – and there’s just nothing there.’
Grant’s story went viral on social media and an online petition was launched by the family to fund their investigative efforts, raising $137,106 of a $250,000 goal. A separate fundraiser was launched for Gracie which raised $39,935.
A Change.org petition for the case to be reopened also went viral, racking up more than 330,000 signatures.
In the description of the petition, Angelia claimed that Grant had been alone with his father for the first time in two years on the day of his death.
‘It’s important to note that Aaron and Grant had a turbulent past due to Grant reporting that Aaron had been abusing both Grant and his younger sister, Gracie,’ the petition continued.

Aaron Solomon denied any role in his son’s death. He hasn’t spoken since his ex-wife was arrested

Grant’s mom and sister said they don’t believe his injuries were consistent with the chain of events described by Aaron
Angelia and Aaron separated in 2013 and their divorce was heavily contentious.
Their Davidson County case file includes 278 entries from a seven-year period as the parties litigated a number of issues, including Aaron’s custody of Grant and Gracie.
In 2014, Aaron took out a temporary restraining order against Angelia, accusing her of continuing to ‘make baseless allegations of abuse against Mr. Solomon, sexually and otherwise.’
The order limited Angelia to six hours of visitation with her children per week and repeatedly citing Angelia’s mental health, the records show.
Grant and Gracie were back living with Angelia at the time of his death.
A number of other post-divorce actions were filed between the couple in Williamson County.
In his May 2021 lawsuit, Aaron accused Angelia and a cohort of others of pedaling false accusations against him online.
He alleged that his ex-wife, ‘along with her friends and associates,’ brought a ‘smear campaign against Mr. Solomon through social media,’ and that the allegations were made ‘recklessly.’
As part of the filing, Aaron requested a temporary injunction to prevent Angelia and the other defendants from discussing any allegations he ‘physically or sexually abused his ex-wife or children or that he caused Grant Solomon’s death.’
Angelia filed a countersuit against Aaron, requesting the judge dismiss his claim.
The response litigation argued that Gracie’s video testimony posted to YouTube alleging abuse was a ‘clear exercise of her First Amendment rights.’
The filing also included multiple affidavits from individuals accusing Aaron Solomon of abuse, including Gracie.
The outcome of that litigation is unclear.

Speaking about their tumultuous relationship in 2023, Angelia claimed she and Gracie were living in fear of Aaron.
‘We are hyper vigilant. We have alarm systems and of course dogs but we have our house secured like Fort Knox,’ she said.
‘It all angers me to the point where it’s not anger any more – it’s just a hellish rage.
‘But I put my faith in God, that’s what’s sustained me through all this. And Grace does too, as did Grant. That’s where I have to place my faith because I can’t fathom what we have lived through, and what we’re in the middle of, and how he walks around living his best life like a multi-millionaire.
‘It’s a tough spot to be in,’ she added. ‘At some point that dam is going to crack […] but I don’t have time to focus on what he’s doing or where he’s at because I’m too busy trying to protect and fight.’
In an interview with NewsNation last year, Angelia maintained that she believed her husband had something to do with their son’s death.
Aaron Solomon has not returned a request for comment.
Angelia remains in custody. She appeared in court on Monday where she was appointed a public defender.
Her bond has been set at $500,000 and she has not yet entered a plea.
