Race Across The World sparks fix row as viewers insist one team has a HUGE advantage - and call out string of glaring blunders just minutes into BBC premiere

The latest season of Race Across The World has just started, and it has already stirred up a lot of conversation among keen-eyed viewers. Some fans have noticed mistakes, while others believe that one team has a significant advantage over the others.

The BBC adventure show sees five sets of contestants go head-to-head in a 14,000 kilometers race across China, Nepal and India for a huge cash prize.

During the Wednesday episode, the audience was introduced to various pairs participating in the race. These included sisters, Elizabeth and Letitia; former spouses, Yin and Gaz; brothers, Brian and Melvyn; young couple, Fin and Sioned; and mother and son duo, Caroline and Tom.

Starting in China, the pairs all embarked on their long journeys and watchers were quick to spot a possible problem.

One particular observation made by fans was regarding Brian and Melvyn, who were seen with a backpack each. However, some viewers noticed that they might encounter problems with another piece of luggage that they seemed to be carrying along.

Driving instructor Melvyn was pulling a small case behind him which many felt could cause difficulties during their long journey.

Some posted to X: ‘What are Bry and Melvyn doing with that great big suitcase.’

‘I am loving the brothers already, especially Melvyn and his trolley case.’

‘Is that guy gonna wheel his case across the world?!’

‘That pull along case thing Melvyn has is going to be a problem isn’t it.’

‘I’d spend my first £22 on a rucksack and get rid of the wheelie case.’

While mother and son duo, Caroline and Tom, faced their own issues when they found themselves stuck in Beijing’s train station for quite some time.

After being told there were no tickets left for that day, Tom grumbled, ‘We haven’t made it out of Beijing in 24 hours now. We’ll have to come up with a plan.’

Caroline managed to secure the pair tickets for the next morning and they stayed in a hostel overnight.

Some viewers took to social media to comment on the situation and said: ‘Pleasure to share episode one with you all. And remember, if you ever think you’re having a bad day, at least you’re not Tom and Caroline who managed to spend 24 hours in a train station during a race.’

‘Tom and Caroline stranded at the train station with all trains sold out.’

‘When was this filmed? Are Caroline and Tom still in Beijing?’

‘Tom and his mum are probably on the North bound train back to Beijing.’

‘I was really rooting for the mother & son, but they haven’t even made it out of Beijing in more than 24 hours.’

Sisters Elizabeth and Letitia managed to successful reach the checkpoint first.

Letitia was able to speak to locals in Mandarin which some viewers claimed gave the pair an advantage.

One posted on X: ‘It’s so refreshing to see Letitia speaking fluent mandarin. That will really benefit her in this race.’

‘Watching #raceacrosstheworld who’d have thought that being able to speak a language could give you the edge!?!?’

‘Speaking mandarin is going to be a huge advantage!’

‘The couple who know mandarin have reached the checkpoint first.’
