The remains of a South Carolina woman missing since September were found in Hartsville last week
The Darlington County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the remains discovered on December 4 as Shamra Hope Cassidy Felkel, aged 49. According to WPDE, the coroner has determined the death to be a homicide.
WBTW reported that Daniel Peele was arrested that same day and charged with murder, kidnapping, and obstructing justice. Peel appeared in court on Tuesday on the kidnapping and obstruction charges and was denied bond. He is set to appear on the murder charge on January 22.
Arrest warrants say Peele strangled Feldel and dumped her body in a well.
Felkel was last seen on September 25 but not reported missing until October 7.
Kasey Wolfe, Felkel’s daughter, said last week that she’d gotten a tip to search an area near her mother’s property in Hartsville, WPDE said. She asked a family friend to check out the area, and that friend found the remains.
