On Friday, the Elko Police Department in a Nevada arrested a 37-year-old, charging him with open murder.
This arrest of Donald Rosenauer followed a child abuse investigation that started on New Year’s Eve, 2 News Nevada reports.
Police were notified by Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital on December 31 about a 7-month-old girl who was taken to the emergency room without consciousness.
Investigators questioned the infant’s parents, who stated that the child rolled off a couch, resulting in injuries.
However, medical personnel reported that the victim exhibited signs of a brain bleed, hemorrhaging in both eyes, and chest bruising.
Detectives determined that Rosenauer was alone with the infant when her injuries occurred.
The baby was airlifted to Salt Lake City for advanced treatment but removed from life support on January 3.
