Scott, whose body was found in a sack of pineapples, is feared to have been kidnapped and tortured before his eventual death.

Musembi is accused of transporting Scott’s body from Pipeline Nairobi to Makongo Forest in Makueni county, Kenya, where the corpse was discovered in a sack.

In a shock twist, the driver took his own life whilst on the run from cops.

Prior to his suicide, he was alleged to have been hiding at a relative’s house in Dandora, Nairobi.

Investigators report that he requested to stay temporarily at a friend’s residence in Dandora, explaining that he wanted to get some rest “away from home” without revealing the cause.

The friend then went to work and left Musembi in the house with the rest of his family, and told his relatives Musembi looked “restless”.

When the friend returned, Musembi appeared to have locked the door from the inside.

He broke the door down to find Musembi lying on the bed with foam frothing out of his mouth and blood pouring from his neck.

Musembi appeared to have stabbed himself, and he was rushed to hospital.

Due to the severity of his injuries, Musembi was turned away by one hospital, leading to his admission to Kenyatta National Hospital on Tuesday evening, where he passed away the following Wednesday morning.

Police said: “The heat on him was too much. He died by suicide.”

Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed Amin confirmed Musembi had died by suicide.

Investigations have shown since that Musembi may have attempted to take poisonous substances in order to end his life, but then also stabbed himself when that did not work.

Two other suspects involved in Scott’s murder are still on the run, and are named as Bernard Mbunga Mbusu and Alphonse Munya Kilewa alias Edu.

Investigators said: “The suspects are linked to the brutal murder of 58-year-old Briton, Campbell Scott, whose partially decomposed body was found on February 22, 2025, in Makongo Forest, Makueni Sub-County.

“Scott had arrived in the country just days earlier to attend a business conference.”

It is also alleged that the men tricked Scott, who was in Nairobi for business, before murdering him.

Police have already caught two suspects and are holding them in custody.

They are reportedly helping the investigations.

The group are believed to have tied up Scott’s body and bundled it onto a car before driving over 100 kilometres away where they dumped his corpse into a pineapple sack.

The two caught suspects allegedly successfully attempted to access money using Scott’s credit cards in Nairobi, Voi and Mombasa.

At large Mbusu was last seen on February 16 on CCTV footage with Scott.

Police said that the fugitive has a criminal past which dates back 7 years.
