The search continues for a man who vanished in October while visiting his family in South Carolina.
Zelig Williams, 28, went missing while on the Palmetto Trail in early October. His cousin, Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, mentioned in a Facebook post that they are coordinating with law enforcement for further search efforts.
Corbett-Jacobs stated, “The search will proceed, focusing on new areas yet to be explored (watch out for updates on dates and locations in the coming weeks). It is believed that Zelig is not in the water, and there are strong suspicions of foul play linked to his disappearance,” she mentioned on Thursday.
Reports suggest that before his disappearance, Williams may have discontinued taking his prescribed mental health medication. Initial statements by Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott indicated that the possibility of foul play has not been dismissed, although it is uncertain if there has been any development on this front.
The trail Williams was last seen on is 30 miles from his family’s home in Richland County. A day after he vanished, Williams’ car was discovered on the trail. His belongings were reportedly located inside the vehicle.
Williams’ family claimed that the morning he vanished, they got an SOS ping from his phone from one of his friends in New York. The alert indicated a crash had occurred, but police said his car had no evidence of being in an accident.
Williams recently returned home after performing on Broadway and was slated to teach a dance class the month he vanished. It is unclear if foul play is suspected in his disappearance.
Williams was reportedly last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black pants, and brown slides. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
