Butlin’s is opening over 100 brand new and luxury lodges as part of a £12million project.
The popular holiday resort, in Skegness, Lincolnshire, will be opening a new village with a play area and lodges that sleep up to six guests for family breaks and adult-only Big Weekenders. 128 brand-new dwellings will be ready to be booked for May half term 2024, Mirror Online reports.
They will be situated in the brand-new Maple Walk village, which Butlin’s says is “a tranquil setting less than five minutes from the heart of the main resort where guests have full access to the entertainment venues, facilities, activities on offer and new SKYPARK playground”. Among the lodges are several adapted units suitable for wheelchair users. WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, towels and housekeeping are also included in the price. The price has not been revealed by Butlin’s yet.

The lodges will each have three bedrooms including a main bedroom with king sized bed and en-suite shower room, two twin rooms, a fully equipped kitchen with full sized fridge freezer, microwave and hob, private decking with outdoor furniture and parking space for two cars directly outside the accommodation. During May half term next year, a ‘silver room’ for two adults and two children, which has a double bed and two twin beds, is available for just over £500 for five days. It is believed the new lodges could be a similar price.
Jon Hendry Pickup, CEO at Butlin’s said: “We’re delighted to announce even more investment to our Skegness resort. If you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet, but still want to be close to the action, then our new premium lodges bring you the best of both worlds.
“Our new accommodation village Maple Walk will be beautifully landscaped and we’re sure the 128 well-equipped premium lodges will be very popular with guests staying on both our family breaks and Big Weekenders. We continue to invest in Skegness and our luxury lodges follow the new look fairground and £2.5million playground SKYPARK which opened earlier this year.”
What else is new at Butlin’s?
Earlier this year Butlin’s announced it was opening a brand-new indoor activity centre. The £15million space will feature a variety of cutting-edge experiences all under one roof at the Bognor Regis location. Opening in Autumn 2024 and named PLAYXPERIENCE, the zone will feature escape Rooms with a variety of different worlds to bust out of. Guests will have to find clues and solve puzzles to beat the clock in this immersive and interactive game.
An AR game dubbed Digi Darts will let players take to the oche to compete through several different game modes with autoscoring boards that offers a new twist to chucking arrows. TechPutt offers a similar techy twist but for gold, laser tag puts competitors through their paces in a new galactic battleground, while the batting cage helps you let off some steam through AI versions of baseball, tennis, lacrosse and cricket.
Classics such as shuffleboard have been updated with electric scoreboards and a unique concave playing surface, while glow pong offers a fun, light up twist on table tennis.
