Christy Carlson Romano on How Life Has Changed Following Shooting Accident

Christy Carlson Romano says her life has “changed profoundly” since she was shot in the face while celebrating her husband’s birthday.

The actress gave her followers a new peek into her recuperation process by posting a recent video on Instagram on February 27. In the caption of the video, she mentioned that it had been three weeks since the incident where she was shot in the face and how it had significantly altered her life.

Expressing her gratitude, she stated that she is healing remarkably well and feels more thankful than ever before. She admitted to previously hesitating to share her interests openly due to the fear of judgment, but now she has a different perspective and feels liberated from those worries.

In a reassuring message to her fans, the Emmy-nominated actress assured them that she plans to reveal more about her pastimes, comedic talents, family life, and other aspects that are important to her as she progresses in her recovery journey.

“It might be me singing in the car, it might be my obsession with skincare and beauty, or fashion, or cooking, or me just acting like a total weirdo with my husband,” she explained. “If it brings me joy and it’s not hurting anyone, I’m doing it.”

She added, “Also, like I told you @thebrendanrooney I got shot, and I’m gonna eat all the damn Oreos, wherever and whenever I want!”

Romano revealed in a video posted via Instagram on February 7, that she’d been shot in the eye while she and her husband were shooting clay pigeons. “So I got shot in the eye. It was not fun,” she explained at the time.

“I’m very grateful to first responders as a whole,” she continued. “I mean, they’re just the most amazing superhero-like people to take care of us at our most desperate times.”

Romano then gestured towards her eye, telling her fans that her injury “is really bad tonight.”

“Everything’s kind of clearing out. But, I get to say I got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale.” She concluded, “Be grateful for every day.”

In the caption of her video, Romano went into more detail about what happened that day. “There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” she wrote.

“I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye,” the caption continued. “Unfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment).”

She added, “With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant. 🙏.”
