Barack Obama Is 'Deeply Concerned' About Trump Admin Targeting Students. So What?

Barack Obama appears to have had a change of heart. Previously, he did not show much concern when the borders were being opened by Joe Biden, a move which led to various immigration issues that are now being addressed by the Trump administration. Additionally, Obama did not seem troubled when the government printed excessive amounts of money, leading to a spike in inflation, another issue that is being tackled by the current administration. Furthermore, he did not appear worried about Iran’s increased support for Islamic terrorism following the relaxation of sanctions by Biden, another situation that is now being dealt with by Trump’s team.

No, now the former president is concerned about the Trump administration trying to clean all this up.

Obama indirectly criticized Trump for several policies, such as the government’s actions against universities and students practicing free speech, its targeting of legal firms, and the implementation of new tariffs on foreign nations.

Speaking at Hamilton College in New York, Obama expressed his reservations about certain economic policies and tariffs, hinting that they might not be beneficial for America. However, he emphasized his deeper concerns regarding the federal government’s intimidating stance towards universities that support students exercising their freedom of speech.

Note how all this is framed. Barack Obama is, to put it very bluntly, lying through his teeth.

The federal government is not making “threats against universities.” Nor are they targeting “students who exercise free speech.” The Trump administration is putting pressure on universities who look the other way or take meaningless, symbolic actions when campuses are taken over by radicals who support Islamic terror groups like Hamas, radicals who conceal their identities with masks, who call for the destruction of Israel, who attack Jewish students, who take over and occupy campus buildings. That is well beyond the bounds of free speech. That is domestic terrorism, using violence or the threat of violence to push a political agenda.

Furthermore, many of these “students” are here on student visas, many from the very countries who have the destruction of Israel – the United States’ best ally in the Middle East – as a matter of national policy. There’s no reason why we, as a nation, should tolerate this, and the Trump administration is correct in identifying these people and sending them home. A visa is not a guarantee; these people are guests in the United States and are here only as long as they behave.
