Fears for Brit TikToker’s son, 4, ‘who has rats running over him on urine-soaked floor’ in hellhole Thai jail, pal says

FEARS for a Brit boy jailed with his mum are growing, with a pal warning he is suffering in the rat-infested, urine-soaked hellhole.

A 4-year-old named Cairo and his mother, Ellis Matthews, 32, known as “mum on the run,” are reportedly sharing a crowded, unsanitary cell with sixteen other women, with concerns raised that they are not managing well in these conditions.

Karma Clark, a close friend of Ellis, told The Sun she is willing to fly over and bust the pair out herself as she “fears for their lives”.

She said: “I’m so worried for Cairo’s safety.

“That little boy’s got rats running over him, everyone’s urinating on the floor. All the children in the cell are terrified.”

Before he was plunged into misery, she said Cairo was “a happy little boy, growing and learning like any child should”.

Karma, who initiated a GoFundMe campaign for Ellis, previously mentioned that Cairo was doing fine with his mother, but now reports that he is dealing with lice, rashes, and the unbearable heat in a Thai prison cell.

“That poor boy in there, his head must be going crazy,” she added.

Questions have been raised about the mental health support available to Cairo and the importance of focusing on the young boy and the challenging conditions he is enduring in the prison.

The pal also revealed that Ellis, who once appeared on Judge Rinder, is a “clean freak”, so will be losing her mind in the filth and squalor.

She said: “The conditions are absolutely disgusting.

“You’ve got all these mums and their kids crammed into together – it’s not hygienic.”

Ellis and Cairo were locked up on March 3 because the mum overstayed her visa, which expired on February 21.

Before that, she documented on TikTok how she apparently diddled British taxpayers to fund her luxury lifestyle.

But then Ellis claimed it had all been a lie, and that she made up the story about benefit scrounging to get views.

Ellis’s visa was cancelled after British trolls flooded Thai police with “horrible” lies, Karma said.

‘Worst prison you can imagine’

Ellis has described the unbearable conditions she and her son face in the overcrowded cell.

She told MailOnline: “This is hell on earth, it’s the worst prison that you can imagine.

“My skin is covered in rashes, both me and my son have got lice, terrible insect bites and there’s rats running around.”

Ellis said they are surviving off lumpy rice and “rat or pigeon” meat – which is too disgusting to eat – forcing her to go on hunger strike.

The crowd of women have only two filthy toilets and one shower between them – and a single fan that sometimes works.

The pair are forced to spend 20 hours of each day locked up in the squalor.

She added: “We can’t sleep at night because there’s so much screaming and shouting.

“There are 35 women and children in the cell next to ours.

“It’s unbearable in here, I can’t stop crying and just want to get out as quickly as possible.”

No escape

Thai authorities told Ellis she can leave when she can buy herself a plane ticket back to the UK.

The despairing mum asked: “I’ve got the money for an airline ticket but can’t get to it because they won’t allow me to access my bank account so what am I supposed to do?”

She also claimed her visa was originally cancelled because “people in the UK have been trolling me and accusing me of horrible things”.

But Ellis said she would rather keep rotting in the jail than return to the UK – because she fears social services would take Cairo away from her.

She said: “I’m not going to lose Cairo and there’s no way I’m going back to the UK.”

Cambodia or Turkey would be much better options, according to the mum, but that looks unlikely.

Karma said: “She can’t access her bank account, so they’re stuck.”

A history of controversy

Before her arrest, Ellis had built a following online by claiming she was able to live in Thailand while claiming UK benefits.

Posting under the name @mumontheruninasia, she boasted about getting £2,300 per month in Disability Living Allowance, despite having lived abroad for years.

One of her clips shows her in a bikini, holding cash, as she reportedly said: “I picked up my Disability Living Allowance today and I’ve been doing so for the past four years of not living in the UK.”

She added: “So, I receive around £2,300 per month undisputable [SIC] money and that pays for my lifestyle out here in Thailand.”

Ellis claimed she qualified for the payments due to her “six mental disorders”, which he said required “ongoing treatment costs to be met by the NHS by the taxpayer”.

Thailand is not on the list of countries where British citizens can usually receive UK benefits while living abroad – and now Ellis has admitted all this was a lie.

Karma set up a GoFundMe appeal in Ellis’s name, with donations currently sitting at £230.

It says: “Any money raised in this GFM will all go towards Ellis and Cairo as soon as someone has contact with her.

“Whether this be food/drinks/flights. Anything to make sure her son and her needs are covered for whatever they need at time of release or deportation.”
