A 26-year-old Connecticut man is behind bars in connection with the deaths of his girlfriend and his 2-year-old son.

Jevon Fletcher is facing charges of two counts each of murder and murder with exceptional circumstances and risk of injury, as reported by West Haven police. The authorities were alerted to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Saturday night after Fletcher leaped out of a second-story apartment window.

Upon entering the apartment from which he had jumped, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of a 19-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy who had been stabbed to death. Fletcher was apprehended by the officers and taken into custody. Following his release from the hospital on Tuesday, he was transferred to jail, where he is being held on a $3 million bond. His next court appearance is slated for March 13.

Police have not released a motive for the murders.

While the family identified the deceased woman as Hailey Miller, the name of the deceased child, who was Fletcher’s son, has not been disclosed by the authorities. However, Miller was not the mother of the child but did leave behind a toddler son, as indicated on a GoFundMe page. The fundraiser described Miller as “a hardworking mother, always looking to further her education/career.”
