Oregon’s Christmas tree farm sells close to 1 million trees yearly and is the world’s largest

There is surely no shortage of Christmas trees in Oregon. 

Oregon leads the United States in Christmas tree production, with an impressive output of approximately 4 million trees each year, as reported by World Population Review. This makes up roughly 33% of the total annual Christmas tree production in the country, according to the National Centers for Environmental Information.

That number equates to around $120 million annually, per the source.

On a national scale, the United States sees an estimated 25 to 30 million real Christmas trees sold every year, as stated by the National Christmas Tree Association. It is noteworthy that there are approximately 350 million Christmas trees growing throughout the country.

The cultivation of Christmas trees is a time-consuming process. It typically takes seven years for an average-sized tree, ranging from six to seven feet, to reach maturity. However, according to sources, some trees may require up to 15 years to fully grow.

Every spring, farmers around the country place one to three seedlings in place of every single tree that was harvested during the fall for the holidays, according to the National Centers for Environmental Information.
