ORLANDO, Fla. – This week is National Police Week, a time when communities nationwide take a moment to honor and remember the law enforcement officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
It’s a solemn yet powerful moment when departments of every size and shape, from rural towns to major cities, unite in remembrance.
Here in our own community, we’re taking time to reflect and pay tribute to those we’ve lost.
Throughout the week, various local agencies will be highlighted for how they are paying tribute to their fallen heroes. Whether it’s through ceremonies like laying wreaths, holding candlelight vigils, or observing moments of silence during roll call, each gesture is a profound display of respect and commemoration.
We will also be focusing on the national events taking place in Washington, D.C., where law enforcement officers, their families, and supporters come together for several days of remembrance and unity.
These events serve as a reminder that behind every badge is a life committed to service and sometimes, that service comes at the highest cost.
Join me live today as we kick off coverage of day one of Police Week. We’ll talk through what’s ahead, why this week matters, and how you can be part of honoring the brave men and women who stood for something bigger than themselves.
Let’s make sure their stories are never forgotten.
