Wild moment Chipotle customer attacks employee behind the counter and then threatens to stab him

An angry customer launched a violent attack on a Chipotle employee and threatened to stab him after alleging the restaurant messed up her order.

A video that has now gone viral captures an incident where an angry customer walked behind the counter at a Chipotle restaurant in northeast Washington DC. The customer took matters into her own hands by making her own burrito bowl, disregarding the employees as she forcefully filled the bowl with food. She even shoved and screamed at the staff members who tried to stop her.

An employee named Roberto Hernandez attempted to take the bowl away from her, but the irate woman resisted and ended up slapping him in the face. This action resulted in food being scattered across the counter in the chaotic commotion.

Reports suggest that the woman’s outburst stemmed from her dissatisfaction with an Uber Eats order. She claimed that the order she received was not prepared correctly as it was missing condiments and a double serving of chicken, as stated by WUSA.

Hernandez said she wanted a refund, despite her receipt not reflecting an extra portion of meat, and was angry when he and his manager informed her that she would have to contact the delivery service directly if she wanted any money back.

The woman, who attempted to make at least two new burrito bowls, ended up walking out of the store with one of the meals she prepared herself, restaurant staff told the outlet.

She then went online and threatened another attack on the establishment, allegedly saying: ‘I’m going to come back and stab them and take their life.’

Chipotle filed a police report for simple assault following Saturday’s incident, while the woman reportedly intends to sue the fast-food chain.

Hernandez, who told WUSA the viral video is ‘triggering’ to watch, was working at the Chipotle on Washington Place in DC’s Brentwood neighborhood Saturday when the incident unfolded.

He claims the woman walked into the restaurant, said she had placed an order on Uber Eats, alleged it was incorrectly made and demanded a refund.

Hernandez and his manager explained that refunds would have to be issued by Uber directly, which he alleges upset her further.

The customer, who also spoke to the TV station, claims she asked the restaurant to remake her order – but they refused.

She also claims she decided to go around the counter after staff took her original order, which she brought to the restaurant with her, away and refused to return it.

‘I understand you can’t go behind the counter but once my food was taken, it was like you’re taking my property. You have a right to chase them, not assault them but take your belongings,’ she explained.

The woman doubled down again of her position, adding that she believes the restaurant manager should have remade her order due to the ‘inconvenience’ she had been caused.

She says she ‘feels bad’ that the staffer ‘got assaulted’, but also stated ‘it was men that came and assaulted me. When I made my food I was assaulted by one crew member’.

Chipotle has since filed a formal police report on behalf of Hernandez, alleging simple assault. It is unclear if the customer will be charged.

The woman – who did not receive a refund for Uber Eats – says she intends to sue Chipotle.

The fast food chain, in a statement to WUSA, said that ‘health and safety of our employees is our greatest priority’.

‘We are grateful for their hard work every day and do not condone guests who mistreat our team members,’ the statement continued. ‘We are working cooperatively with local law enforcement and hope justice will be served for the individual who did not treat our employees with the respect that they deserve.’

DailyMail.com has approached the restaurant chain for comment.
