Danielle Lloyd broke down in tears on Friday as she revealed that she has been diagnosed with skin cancer.
At the age of 41, the television personality used her Instagram stories to inform her followers about an important health issue and advised them not to overlook any potential warning signs.
With tears in her eyes, the devastated celebrity expressed, ‘I’m struggling to find the right words to say this, but I felt compelled to shed light on this issue to help others who may be going through the same thing.’
‘Today I have been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer.’
In an emotional plea, the mother of five emphasized, ‘I want to raise awareness for anyone who notices any unusual changes on their skin, such as a growing mole – it’s essential to see a doctor because you never know what it could be.’
The star went on to say that she’d been ‘really shocked’ by what she’d been told earlier in the day, but before going on to praise the Macmillan nurses at the hospital for their support.Â
Danielle then went on to inform her followers that she would need an operation to see if her cancer has spread.
She added: Honestly, it’s not what I expected today, I suppose it’s not what anyone suspects.’Â
She then warned her fans: ‘Please guys, Look after your skin, stay of sunbeds, wear factor 50 – and just look after yourself because you never know what’s going to happen.’Â
Danielle is mum to Autumn-Rose, three and Ronnie, six, whom she shares with husband Michael O’Neill.
She also has older sons Archie, 14, George, 13, and Harry, 10, with ex-husband Jamie O’Hara.Â
Danielle’s devastating news comes months after she opened up about her life and revealed she’s got everything she wants in life, thanks to the addition of her little girl.
In an exclusive chat with MailOnline in September, the mother-of-five revealed she had always envisioned having five children yet reveals the reality of motherhood has stopped her from wanting a sixth.Â
‘After I had Autumn, I thought I might have another one because I’d love her to have a little sister – But then Autumn got a bit bigger and a bit sassier and I was like, “Hm, no more!”‘ Danielle laughs. ‘She’s enough. She’s my little best friend.Â
‘I’ve got everything I want now. Every morning I go and get her out of bed, pick her up and she goes, “You’re my best friend ever”.’Â
It’s understandable that Danielle has a special bond with her youngest, they’re the only girls in a house of five boys.Â
Before falling pregnant she made no secret of the fact she wanted a little girl, even considering controversial gender selection treatment.Â
Danielle was hit by backlash and horrifically trolled for her decision, so does she think there was a sexist element to the criticism?Â
When a man is having a baby after all it’s not uncommon for him to say he wants a son. Â
She agreed. ‘I got a lot of people saying I should just be grateful,’ Danielle mused.Â
‘And obviously, I am really grateful. I’ve got four beautiful sons and they are all amazing.Â
‘But I was always going to have another baby with Michael because we wanted to have two. I’m just so thankful that I did have a girl.’
Danielle abandoned her plans for gender selection when lockdown hit and decided to see what would happen by trying naturally.Â
‘I did a blood test six weeks into pregnancy and it came back I was having a boy. I thought “not again!” she laughed. ‘But then 10 weeks after that, I went for a scan and they said I was having a girl. So it was like she was just always meant to be.’
