Jurors at the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs were presented with three sexually explicit videos known as “freak off” tapes that Cassie Ventura had handed over to the prosecution. Combs’ mother, sister, and three sons were in the courtroom as his former girlfriend detailed the contents of the orgies depicted in the recordings. The jurors visibly reacted, with some cringing and turning away, while the general audience was not able to see the videos. The jurors watched the footage on small screens using headphones.
In different testimony, Ananya Sankar, a paralegal specialist at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, stated that she had verified the accuracy of government-produced charts that summarized the exhibits. These charts were used to show the jury text messages and other pieces of information that had not been previously discussed in court but had been entered as evidence.
The evidence presented included text exchanges among Combs’ team members making arrangements for “hotel nights.” These messages involved discussions between Diddy, Cassie, Khorram, and other staff members on how to bring $4,000 in cash to the hotel. Khorram informed assistant Dave Shirley to be prepared, saying, “Heads up, he’s probably about to do wild king tonight.” Shirley responded, “…need to reup on baby oil.” Additionally, the jury was shown a text from Khorram to Cassie stating, “Hi, Dave is at your door with the green.”
Prosecutors said they expect to rest their case as early as Wednesday.
