Neil’s stint at Fox

Neil was born on September 22, 1958, in Westbury, New York.

His mother was a United Nations staffer and his father worked as a can company sales executive.

During the Carter administration, Neil landed a job as a White House intern which helped shape his view of politics.

Neil then became an anchor at CNBC, before joining Fox News when it launched in 1996.

The journalist quickly rose through the ranks at Fox and became the senior vice president, anchor, and managing editor of business news.

During his career, Neil covered the 9/11 attacks, the 2008 financial crash, the 1987 stock market crash and both Persian Gulf Wars.

Neil’s choice words for Trump

Cavuto famously called out Donald Trump in 2019 when the president noted how unhappy he was with the coverage by Fox News.

“All right, well, I think the president watches Fox,” Cavuto said to his viewers.

“I also think he is getting sick of Fox, which is weird, because I think he gets pretty fair coverage at Fox.”

He added: “Mr President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you.

“Mr. President, it’s about being fair and balanced. However, it’s fair to admit that you’re not a fan when that balance involves information or facts that you disagree with or prefer not to have questioned,”

Neil’s health battle

Cavuto has struggled with health issues for most of his career, alongside a hectic work schedule.

In 1987, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a disease that affects the immune system, and was treated with chemotherapy and radiation.

Neil’s health struggle made him an outspoken advocate for the importance of vaccines.

After contracting COVID-19, Neil believes that taking the vaccine saved his life.

He said: “Had I not been vaccinated, and with all my medical issues, this would be a far more dire situation.

“It’s not, because I did and I’m surviving this because I did.”

Neil’s love life

Neil married his wife Mary Fulling, whom he reportedly met at Saint Bonaventure University, on October 15, 1983.

The couple have three children together and live in Mendham Borough, New Jersey.

Neil has been vocal about how his wife’s support saw him through his health troubles.

He said: “I joke with her that I use the illness to get out of putting out the garbage or doing jobs at home.

“Then she’ll say ‘No, you can still wheel the garbage to the front of the house.’

“She has a good attitude about it, and I need that.”
