'I didn't want another mother to experience what I was experiencing': Woman who lost daughters in Shaker Heights house fire writes book on grief

Roschelle Ogbuji lost her three daughters 17 years ago. Now, she’s turning her pain into purpose.

After experiencing a significant personal loss seventeen years ago, Roschelle Ogbuji has turned her sorrow into an inspiring story of optimism and strength.

Her new book, “Good Grief, Great Grace: Finding Light After Darkness: A Journey Through Unimaginable Loss,” offers a beacon of comfort to those navigating their own paths through grief.

In a recent interview with 3News’ Lindsay Buckingham, Roschelle shared a deeply personal insight that became a turning point in her healing journey. When confronted with the heart-wrenching question of “Why did God let this happen to me?” she discovered a transformative perspective. Instead of remaining trapped in her sorrow, she began to see her experience as a unique opportunity to support and inspire others.

“And then the question that came back, ‘Why not, you know? If I’ve given you the grace and I’m carrying this weight for you, who other than you, to walk in this grace to show other people how it’s done, and that I can give you strength to do this,'” Roschelle reflected. “I didn’t want another mother to experience what I was experiencing.”

Roschelle also touches on the importance of organ donation, since she made the selfless decision to donate her youngest daughter’s organs through Akron Children’s Hospital. In the interview, she said, “Organ donation saved my life.”
