CBS has given the green light for Boston Blue, ensuring a direct-to-series production. Fans can expect to see Wahlberg back in action as the iconic detective in this fresh installment. The show will follow Danny, an experienced NYPD officer, as he transitions to a new chapter within the Boston police force.

Upon his arrival in Boston, Danny will form a partnership with Detective Lena Peters, the accomplished daughter of a renowned law enforcement family. Their collaboration promises to bring an exciting dynamic to the series, as revealed in the official statement.
According to CBS, Boston Blue is intended to expand the Blue Bloods universe and will be part of the 2025-2026 broadcast season lineup.
This spin-off news comes just two months after the original CBS series aired its final episode on December 14. The network had previously announced in November 2023 that the show’s fourteenth season would be its last.
Set to air in the 2025-2026 broadcast season, Boston Blue will follow Wahlberg’s NYPD detective as he relocates from New York City to join the Boston PD. In this new setting, Danny will partner with Lena Peters, a detective from a prominent Boston policing family.
Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis are set to serve as showrunners, while Donnie will also take on the role of executive producer alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Kristie Anne Reed.
After the concept was pitched to CBS studios, executives saw a chance to integrate the show into the Blue Bloods universe and reached out to Donnie. Wahlberg was eager to step back into the shoes of Danny following the cancellation of Blue Bloods.
