Eamonn Holmes has admitted that he thinks it’s okay to lie to your partner in a relationship.
The GB News host, 65, made the confession during a debate on the topic on his morning show on the channel.
Eamonn disclosed on Monday that a third of individuals resort to dishonesty on dating apps in order to appear more captivating to potential and current partners.
After a dating coach claimed it breaks the trust in a relationship to lie, Eamonn disagreed and drew on what appeared to be his own experience.
‘”Does my bum look big in this? No of course it doesn’t.” So does that make me a bad person then Jo?’ he asked.
He went on to acknowledge, ‘Let’s be honest, most of us lead fairly mundane lives. When someone asks us to talk about ourselves, there’s an expectation to share something extraordinary or unique, which often isn’t the reality. Personally, I tend to exaggerate; I like to add a little flair.’
‘If someone is trying to attract the most appealing match on a dating app, they’re unlikely to admit to spending their time lounging on the sofa, watching TV, and indulging in pizza, are they?’
It comes after Eamonn’s ex-wife Ruth showed on Sunday she was having plenty of fun after the break-up, hitting the town with good friend Lizzie Cundy for a girls’ night out which she documented on Instagram.
The pair took to London for a luxurious meal at Scott’s Mayfair where they were joined by their pal and hospitality consultant Liz Taylor.
Ruth, 64, cut a chic figure in a black blazer over a black top, wearing her shoulder-length blonde hair loose.
She rose a glass of white wine with TV personality Lizzie, 56, who sported a black top with a gold pattern near the collar.
The Loose Women panellist added a caption to her story reading, ‘GIRLS NIGHT’, along with an animation of wine glasses clinking.
‘Girls night! Party like it’s your birthday. Laughter is the best medicine.’
Ruth had revealed earlier in the evening that her outfit was all from her range at QVC UK, posting a mirror selfie on Instagram showing what she was wearing.
She completed her look with a black snakeskin clutch bag, black slim jeans and black snake effect boots.
The night out comes after the former This Morning host discussed her ‘difficult’ break up after 14 years of marriage to Eamonn and how she has picked herself up and moved on.
Shortly after their separation, Eamonn went public with his new relationship with dating counsellor Katie Alexander, 43, while Ruth remains publicly single.
Speaking to woman&home about their divorce, Ruth is determined to look ahead and feels an enthusiasm for what’s next, including meeting someone new.
When asked how she is feeling now, Ruth said: ‘I’m alright. Relationship breakdowns are very difficult – marriage, friendship, whatever it is – but you just deal with it and you have to move on. You can either let yourself crumble or you pick yourself up and get on with life. It’s a choice.’
Ruth, who shares son Jack, 22, with Eamonn, added: ‘I’m not delighted my marriage is over but I’ve accepted that my marriage is over, so I am trying to now embrace the fact that I’m single and can make choices that are just about me.’
The former This Morning host, who co-presented the Friday show with her ex-husband Eamonn, went on to discuss navigating a break-up in the public eye.
She said: ‘A break-up of a relationship is hard enough for anybody to deal with. A divorce is very difficult and it’s very painful, but most people don’t have to do it in the public eye, with everybody having an opinion about you and writing things about you and commenting things about you.
‘But that’s the nature of my job. I’ve always had that and if you can’t cope with that, you shouldn’t be doing this job.’
