A California couple was arrested late last month, weeks after the man’s 4-year-old son died under suspicious circumstances.
Ryker Havrella, the son of Lacie Fetters, 25, and Andrew Havrella, 36, tragically passed away on December 3, and the circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation. The exact cause of his death has not been determined as the autopsy results are labeled as “deferred” pending further testing, as reported by the Los Angeles Daily News.
KTLA reported that investigators determined that some kind of assault led to Ryker Havrella’s death, though specifics were not provided.
In the aftermath of the boy’s passing, Andrew Havrella set up a GoFundMe page claiming that his son’s death was the result of a heartbreaking accident and expressing his profound grief. The fundraiser managed to raise over $6,100 before it was eventually removed, according to the U.S. Mirror.
Lacie Fetters is facing serious charges including murder, assault on a child leading to death, and torture, and her bail has been established at $3 million. On the other hand, Andrew Havrella has been charged with torture and child abuse that could potentially result in severe bodily harm or death. He was able to secure his release from custody on January 23 after posting bail amounting to $1.1 million.
Fetters’ arraignment is scheduled for March 6. Andrew Havrella is due in court on February 20.
