Missouri police arrested a man last week after he was allegedly caught in a child’s bedroom.
Prior to responding to a burglary report on Wednesday, Lee’s Summit police were informed that the suspect, Robert McDowell III, had been apprehended at the scene. The homeowner’s wife heard a noise and alerted her husband, who found McDowell in their 9-year-old daughter’s bedroom, as per KCTV.
Upon entering the room, the father discovered McDowell standing near the girl’s bunk bed with his hand placed on it. The father then physically confronted McDowell, striking him multiple times, while his wife contacted emergency services, according to KCTV.
Upon the arrival of the authorities, McDowell purportedly stated that he had used methamphetamine over the previous weekend and was disoriented about his whereabouts. Nevertheless, WDAF reported that McDowell had broken into the residence with the intention of molesting the 9-year-old girl.
A day after the incident, a search of McDowell’s phone reportedly yielded at least six images depicting child pornography.
McDowell was charged with first-degree burglary and possession of child pornography. His bond was set at $80,000.
