A woman was arrested nearly a year ago in connection with the killing of her newborn child and the subsequent abandonment of the body in an airport bathroom back in 2005. After being released from jail to await trial, Annie Anderson, aged 51, has been placed under electronic monitoring.
Reported by CrimeOnline, Anderson is facing charges for the death of her infant daughter, whose body was discovered in a restroom trash can at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. The case remained unsolved until investigative genetic genealogy provided crucial evidence, leading to a maternal match for the child in 2021.
Extradited from Washington state to Arizona in April 2024, Anderson is now facing charges that include first-degree murder, abandoning or concealing a dead body, and child abuse, as stated by AZCentral.com. Sergeant Joaquin Enriquez informed the outlet that she was released from jail on December 12, pending trial.
The baby — full term with the umbilical cord still attached — was found on October 10, 2005 and nicknamed “Baby Skylar” by investigators. Detectives believe she was born elsewhere and left at the airport since they found no blood or other indication the birth took place there.
After identifying Anderson, she reportedly admitted the infant was her child and that she was involved in her death.
