Ukraine holds first war talks with Trump’s top team to thrash out plan to finally END conflict with Russia

TOP Ukrainian officials have held high level talks with US President-elect Donald Trump’s team to thrash out plans to end the conflict with Russia.

The talks follow after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy indicated that he may be open to negotiations.

The Ukrainian delegation, led by Andriy Yermak, met with key members of Donald Trump’s transition team, including National Security Adviser nominee Mike Waltz, and Keith Kellogg.

Vice President-elect JD Vance joined in the discussions.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine plans to announce its readiness for peace, though Yermak emphasised that any agreement must be sustainable.

Zelensky has recently signalled Ukraine could agree to a cease-fire if Ukraine were permitted to join Nato.

Ukraine would also seek to win back Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia through diplomatic pressure.

It comes after Vladimir Putin said he was ready to discuss a Ukraine ceasefire with Trump.

However, the Russian tyrant is understood to have a list of heavy demands – including Kyiv abandoning its plan to join Nato.

Trump will take over as US president in January and has promised to end the Ukraine war within 24 hours of taking charge.

And insiders say Putin is open to discussing a peace deal.

Bullish Vlad is already dictating hardline terms for any deal brokered by Trump, sources say.

The Kremlin could agree to freeze conflict along frontlines – but will refuse to surrender any significant territory, five current and former Russian officials told Reuters.

Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned ominously that no peace talks will be held until the West stops giving Ukraine weapons.

And Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov also claimed that the start of Trump’s presidency would change little – and shunned suggestions that current frontlines could be frozen.

Meanwhile, a key insider close to Trump said Mad Vlad was “scared to death” of Trump.

Dr Kevin Roberts, who has close ties with the president-elect, told The Sun that Trump will end the Ukraine war within a matter of days of being in office.

He said Ukraine will have to make some sacrifices to stop the bloodshed being unleashed by Putin’s meatgrinder forces.

And that will mean giving up their Russian-controlled territory in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions of eastern Ukraine, Roberts said.

Roberts, the head of the Heritage Foundation think tank, added that for now – for any peace deal to work – Kyiv will also have to drop any dream of being part of Nato to have any hope of the bombs stopping.

Roberts told The Sun: “Under Donald Trump, the Ukraine war will be done in days.

“Putin is scared to death of Trump but tragically Ukraine needs to give up territory for that to happen.”

Meanwhile, Russia has suffered it’s bloodiest month since the Ukraine war kicked off nearly three years ago.

Close to 46,000 troops have been lost to Putin’s relentless meatgrinder.

Russian soldiers have been slaughtered and wounded at an average daily rate of 1,523 in November, according to UK intelligence services.

November also saw the most damaging single day for Russia, with 2,030 losses on November 28.

This was the first time more than 2,000 Russian losses were recorded in a single day.

A war loss means a soldier has been killed or seriously wounded and put out of action.

November marked the fifth month in a row that the grim record for losses has been broken, and the figure was a considerable increase on October’s total of almost 42,000.

How will Donald Trump end Ukraine War?

BRITISH troops could be deployed to Ukraine to enforce an 800-mile buffer zone as part of Donald Trump’s plan to end the conflict.

Details of the President-Elect’s plan to end the war emerged after a call with Ukrainian President Zelensky following his victory.

His plan sees a demilitarised zone down the locked front line as well as Kyiv agreeing not to join NATO for 20 years.

In exchange, the US would continue to arm Ukraine to the teeth to prevent Putin from invading again.

A member of the Trump team told the Wall Street Journal: “We can do training and other support but the barrel of the gun is going to be European.

“We are not sending American men and women to uphold peace in Ukraine. And we are not paying for it. Get the Poles, Germans, British and French to do it.”
