AT least five people have been wounded in a stabbing incident near Amsterdam’s central Dam Square, Dutch cops said on Thursday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Sint Nicolaasstraat shortly after 3.20pm local time, following reports of a knife attack.

Two ambulances were initially dispatched, with a further three called just ten minutes later as the situation escalated.
A trauma team was also deployed via helicopter, which landed directly on the iconic Dam Square — prompting a large-scale cordon around the area.
One suspect has since been arrested but cops have not yet confirmed the motive behind the attack.
The Amsterdam Police Unit said they were called to the Sint Nicolaasstraat near the Dam due to a reported stabbing incident causing injuries.
“There is therefore a cordon, also on the Dam. More information will follow.”
A meeting at Amsterdam’s Stopera building was interrupted as news of the incident broke.
The police have cordoned off the area as they carry out their investigation. They are requesting anyone who has video footage of the incident to cooperate by submitting it via their official website.
