FLORIDA Governor Ron DeSantis has tapped state Attorney General Ashley Moody to take Marco Rubio’s seat in the US Senate.
Donald Trump selected Rubio to be his secretary of state after winning the election on Election Day.
DeSantis mentioned that the individual he wanted to appoint as senator needed to meet specific requirements. These included supporting and assisting President-elect Trump in fulfilling his campaign commitments, reducing government expenditures, and addressing the issue of illegal immigration.
“I carefully considered this decision. We conducted extensive research and identified several strong candidates from all over Florida, many of whom I believe were highly qualified,” the governor stated during a press conference on Thursday.
“So, that is why today, I am proud to announce that I am selecting our Attorney General Ashley Moody to serve as our next US senator.
“Many of you know her… She has stood strong, time and time again.
