On August 5, 2008, a person visiting the area close to the old Silver King Resort, situated to the west of Port Angeles, Washington, stumbled upon a shoe containing a sock and what seemed to be human remains.
It was not the first discovery of its kind—and would not be the last—but today, the person behind the foot has been identified.
Starting from 2007, around 20 separate human feet, frequently found in sneakers, have been discovered on the shores of the Salish Sea in British Columbia, Canada, and the state of Washington. Joseph Scott Morgan and Dave Mack delve into this enigma and provide an insight into the investigative work carried out at Othram to elucidate how forensic specialists identified the remains—and how the community can contribute.
Othram collaborates with forensic scientists, medical examiners, and law enforcement to solve cases when other methods have failed.
