A fatal motorcycle crash in Texas resulted in the loss of a life and the arrest of a former NFL player for driving while intoxicated.
The Richardson Police Department reported that a female motorcyclist was struck in the 2400 block of northbound North Central Expressway just before 5 a.m. on Saturday. Cody Morris, 27, of Plano, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kelvin Joseph Jr., 25, contacted the Plano Police Department approximately 45 minutes later and informed them that he was involved in the accident. Joseph’s BMW sedan was traveling northbound on North Central Expressway when it allegedly collided with Morris. Officers detected signs of intoxication while speaking with Joseph, leading to his arrest.
Joseph is currently a member of the D.C. Defenders, a UFL team scheduled to play in the conference championship game today. He was drafted in 2021 by the Dallas Cowboys, where he played 26 games before being traded in 2023. Joseph also played for several other teams during his NFL career, including the Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, and Indianapolis Colts, according to People Magazine.
Joseph was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor B) and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death (2nd Degree Felony).
