Police believe they have found the body of a wanted fugitive accused of killing his father in a homeowner’s swimming pool in New York.
Over the weekend, a homeowner on Long Island was getting their pool ready for summer in East Shoreham when they made a grim discovery. While removing the cover, they found a body, later identified as Matthew Zoll, 23, according to a report by FOX News, as confirmed by the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD).
Zoll had been a fugitive wanted in connection with the suspected murder of his father, Joseph. The tragic incident took place on November 9, 2024, when Joseph, 61, made a heartbreaking call to 911, stating that his own son had attacked him with a knife. Sadly, Joseph succumbed to his injuries, as reported by NBC New York.
Following the violent altercation, Zoll quickly fled the scene in a black SUV, which he ended up crashing. The crash site was close to the property where Zoll’s body was eventually discovered, adding another layer of tragedy to the already somber events.

In a bizarre twist, NBC New York reported that the homeowner is a member of the U.S. Marshals Task Force and is believed to have spent time searching for Zoll.
It remains unclear how the body ended up in the law enforcement officer’s pool, but it appears to have been there for an extended period.
The Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to confirm the identity and determine the cause of death, according to FOX News.
