A mother from Coweta County in Georgia has been formally charged by a grand jury for the tragic death of her baby son. The incident occurred in November 2023 when she inadvertently dozed off while using an electric hair dryer to keep the infant warm.
Morgan Alyson Creel, 32, has been charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children, WAGA reported.
Responding to a distress call, deputies arrived at Creel’s residence on November 9, 2023, and discovered the baby boy with serious burns on his right side. In their efforts to save the child, they administered CPR. According to Creel, she had been using the hair dryer to heat the baby but unfortunately fell asleep during the process.
Grand jurors heard that story but were also told that Creel was under the influence of drugs at the time and had passed out.
Creel was charged by the sheriff’s office with child cruelty in 2023, according to the Newnan Times-Herald. The little boy was 6 weeks old.
Creel was not on the county jail’s inmate list Thursday night.
