In Marion County, Florida, three brush fires were detected in the Ocala National Forest after a thunderstorm passed through, as stated in a news release from the U.S. Forest Service.

Officials posted on social media around 4:24 p.m. updating the public on the fires called “Eagle Fire,” “Hughes Fire” and the “Bullbat fire.

According to the release, the estimated two-acre Eagle Fire is burning in the area of Forest Road 11 and Forest Road 50.

Officials later posted an update saying that crews have “have placed dozer line around the entire perimeter” and forward progression has stopped.

One of the fires, known as the Hughes Fire, initially exhibited active growth but was later mentioned to be getting dampened by rainfall, resulting in a decrease in fire activity. However, the specific location of this fire was not disclosed.

The second fire, covering two acres, was identified as the Bullbat fire situated near C.R. 314 close to the gas compression station. Firefighters are actively present at the scene, having conducted four water drops from a helicopter, which notably reduced the fire’s intensity. Additionally, officials reported the utilization of a dozer to establish a containment line around the fire.

“More thunderstorms are moving through the area with the possibility of more lightning. Please report smoke sightings to 911 and drive accordingly. Report any visibility issues on the roads to *347 (*FHP),” the release concluded.
