An investigation is underway in Utah after decomposing human remains were discovered near a trail on Sunday.
According to KSL, a person hiking discovered the body close to the Bone Wash Trail and Elephant Arch hiking spot. The Washington City police, alongside other law enforcement officials, handled the remains. They noted that the body was at different stages of decay, indicating it had been there for quite some time.
According to KSTU, detectives identified the remains as a man and contacted his family. Officials said foul play is not suspected in his death.
Police did not publicly identify the deceased man per a request from his family.
