Outraged I’m A Celeb Viewers Criticize ‘Manipulative’ Twist as Celebrities Compete for Immunity with ‘Golden Ticket’ to Cyclone Trial

I’m A Celeb fans have been left furious after the latest twist was revealed during Wednesday’s episode down under. 

Ant and Dec surprised the camp by showing up for the second time that day, announcing that the campmates would be competing for a chance to win a ticket to the Cyclone trial over the next two days.

The ticket also guarantees the celebrity immunity from the next two vote offs as well as a coveted place in the epic challenge.

The eight remaining campmates were divided into two groups for their Bushtucker Trials. It was explained that two winners from each group would then compete in Thursday’s trial for a chance to secure a ‘golden ticket’ to the final.

Danny Jones, GK Barry, Reverend Richard Coles, and Coleen Rooney faced the Arcade of Agony first, while Alan Halsall, Maura Higgins, Barry McGuigan, and Oti Mabuse participated in a trial later in the episode.

Revealing the results at the end of the episode, Ant and Dec confirmed Coleen, Danny, Maura and Oti won the most tickets and will therefore fight for immunity. 

However the immunity twist has been branded as ‘manipulative’ by viewers as they slammed the decision, arguing it has given ITV the power to decide who is in the final. 

After watching the first trial, viewers also noticed the tickets weren’t counted therefore the winners weren’t revealed as they suggested it was ‘rigged.’ 

Taking to Twitter they furiously penned: ‘Not keen at all on this twist, all feels a bit manipulative!’;

‘#ImACeleb Why the hell have they mucked up the Cyclone this year? We, the viewers, want to choose the last 4 and who should be in the Cyclone!’

‘This is an epically bad idea. We get to decide who goes to Cyclone, not some rigged up arcade game with immunity’; 

‘I dont like this setup, we should be able to vote who gets into the final noooooo’; ‘Are they running out of ideas on what to do at this late stage? Why such a strange twist?’;

‘I really don’t like this new twist thing to get to the cyclone.. it should have been kept to the public to vote, to see who we actually want in the final!’;

‘tbh this twist is not great cyclone should be public voted not determined via a trial’;

‘I presume they didnt count the tickets there and then, as those that haven’t played yet would know what score to beat and so be unfair’;

‘So we know the producers can pick whoever they want to ‘win’ this immunity competition right? Great way for them to ensure their entertainers survive while making it look like random luck’.

Another asked: ‘@antanddec @imacelebrity is someone in there not doing so well with the public votes that you are now fixing it so that they’re in the final? #ImACeleb’.

‘This is 100% rigged, these lot are all likeable and no one’s bothered who wins out of them this twist is brutal but I’m guessing with how popular this cast are, there’s probably quite a few with the same amount of votes making eliminations impossible’;

‘Phone votes get dropped then they bring in 2 free passes to the cyclone, counting of tokens not even shown, Has ITV just unknowly killed this show totally? 

‘Certainly seems that way. In the 22 years this shows been on the cyclone pass isn the worst idea ever!’;

‘everyones been saying they like all the camp mates and don’t want to vote anyone out but now complaining that we can’t vote anyone out??’

Elsewhere in the trial medics were called into action after Coleen had a critter stuck in her ear.

As time was up on the trial, she emerged from her grabbing booth in a state of shock, shouting: ‘I’ve got one in my ear!’ 

Medics were called in to take a closer look and removed it safely with a syringe, as the critter then crawled out her ear.

Ant watching on said: ‘Oh my god! It just jumped out!’
