In Cobb County, Georgia, authorities were alerted to an unconscious individual through a 911 call just before 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, law enforcement and EMTs discovered a woman’s body concealed in a bush, with her face partially obscured by a disorderly sweater. The police confirmed that she had been deceased for a number of hours and observed indications of a physical altercation.
The victim was identified as Camillia Williams, a mother of five, by officials. Her relatives in Louisiana portrayed her as a kind-hearted individual who was adept at engaging in conversations with anyone and had a gentle demeanor. Reports from authorities indicated that the 52-year-old woman had been strangled.
Following the discovery, detectives from the Cobb County Police Department conducted an extensive two-day search within the vicinity where Williams was located. The investigative team cordoned off the area, gathered potential evidence, and canvassed the neighborhood by soliciting information from residents and reviewing surveillance footage. A neighbor residing opposite the location where Williams was situated provided crucial Ring doorbell footage that captured the entire assault on camera. The video footage depicted a young man closely tailing Williams, who, upon being confronted by her, aggressively lunged towards her.
The video shows the man wrapping Williams in a chokehold and dragging her to bushes in front of a home on Pat Mell Road. When she goes limp, he puts both knees on her neck and kneels there for several minutes, preventing her from breathing. He then casually walks away.
Investigators identify the attacker as 21-year-old Honduran national Hector Sagastume.
