A woman from South Carolina has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after admitting to being intoxicated during a crash that took the life of a woman on her wedding night last year.
According to WCSC, Jamie Lee Komoroski pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, felony DUI involving death, and felony DUI with great bodily injury. In April 2023, Komoroski drove her Toyota Camry into a golf cart, killing Samantha Miller, 34, and seriously injuring her husband.

Investigators said Komoroski was driving at 65mph at the time of the deadly crash. She reeked of alcohol and she admitted to having beer and tequila an hour earlier. Though she refused a sobriety test, officers observed her stumbling while being transported to jail.
Testing later confirmed Komoroski’s blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit when she struck the back of the golf cart.
In May, Miller’s husband filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Komoroski. In June, a judge approved a partial $1.3 million payout. Other businesses listed as defendants in the lawsuit also settled with Miller’s husband.
“Do you know what it’s like to vow to protect your wife, do anything for her, and then lose her hours later,” Miller’s husband said in court on Monday, per WCNC. “She was the wrong person to die that night.”
Komorski was credited for the time she spent on house arrest. She apologized to the victims’ families before receiving her sentence.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” she said.
