Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White has sparked conversations among both fans and critics, with Rachel Zegler taking on the role of Snow White and Gal Gadot portraying the Evil Queen, providing a fresh perspective on the beloved tale.
A notable change in the adaptation lies in its soundtrack, as some of the iconic songs from the original 1937 animated version have been either omitted or reenvisioned for this version.

The newer rendition features only three songs from the original soundtrack that remain: ‘Heigh-Ho’, ‘Whistle While You Work’, and ‘The Silly Song’, albeit with new lyrical content and musical arrangements. Surprisingly, ‘One Day My Prince Will Come’ has been entirely excluded, though its melody does make a subtle appearance in an instrumental piece within the film.
This choice reflects a shift in the film’s narrative, where Snow White doesn’t have a traditional prince charming; instead, she falls for a bandit named Jonathan.
To fill the gaps left by the missing songs, the film introduces new tracks by the talented songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who previously created music for The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen. One of the standout additions is ‘Waiting on a Wish’, which acts as Snow White’s “I Want” song. This track emphasizes her longing to break free from her stepmother’s oppressive rule instead of just waiting for a prince.
This change aligns nicely with the film’s updated storyline, where Snow White emerges as a more independent and empowered character who ultimately liberates her kingdom from the Evil Queen.
The live-action Snow White has received a mix of reviews, with many praising Rachel Zegler’s performance, while some have criticized certain alterations to the original story. Although the soundtrack includes familiar favorites, it has been revamped to suit the film’s new direction, providing audiences with a fresh musical experience.
