Chef Anne Burrell’s death last week in New York is reportedly being investigated as an overdose.
Burrell, aged 55, was discovered deceased in her residence in Brooklyn last Tuesday. A confidential document stated that the Food Network Star was found unconscious in the shower with an estimated “100 various pills,” as stated by The New York Times.
It was disclosed in January that Burrell would not be hosting “America’s Worst Cooks.” When questioned about her absence on the upcoming season by an Instagram user, Burrell replied, “Honestly I don’t know.”
The evening prior to her passing, Burrell reportedly took part in improv for the first time at a venue in Brooklyn. Her husband is said to have found her lifeless the following morning and immediately dialed 911.
On Friday, a spokesperson for the city’s medical examiner’s office told The New York Times that Burrell’s autopsy was completed. However, officials said her cause and manner of death are still pending.
