Jeremy Clarkson and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan have been left “upset” over a devastating loss at Diddly Squat farm over Christmas.

The BBC Top Gear alum, who now has his own farming show on Amazon Prime Video, revealed that their horse Bertie tragically died this week.

Sharing the news in his Christmas column Jeremy said: “It wasn’t a fun event, even for me, and I didn’t like it one bit.” Jeremy continued: “When Lisa’s horse died, I was upset because I could see she was. And because I would have to deal with it.”

The couple first knew “something was probably wrong” when they got the news that Bertie was “lying on his side, in a stream.” Jeremy also opened up on he benefit of the sad death, which fell before Christmas Day itself at Diddly Squat, Birmingham Live reports.

“At least with all this unpleasantness out of the way, we won’t have to face it tomorrow, which will free up some time for some other unpleasantness,” Jeremy added. “A cow getting on to the road and being run over by someone on their way to the petrol station.

“A sheep mastering the art of self-combustion? A fox in the henhouse again? They’re all possibilities.” It was recently revealed that Prime Video show Clarkson’s Farm has been renewed for a fourth season.
