A PLANE has skidded off an airport’s runway in an emergency that has halted all flights at the major transit hub.
The mishap immediately triggered a ground stop at Boston Logan International Airport as rescuers rushed over to help passengers.
Terrified witnesses posted photos of the mishap on X.
“We’re on the taxiway stopped at Logan Airport and looks like a commercial flight (maybe JetBlue?) landed on the grass,” one person wrote.
“Emergency vehicles raced to go meet the plane—hope everyone is OK!!”
It was later confirmed that the plane was landing at the airport when it barreled off the runway just before noon on Thursday.
“Upon landing, JetBlue flight 312 rolled into the grass area off runway 33-L,” the airport told The U.S. Sun.
“There are no injuries. The runway is closed at this time as the aircraft is assessed and passengers are bussed to the terminal.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said the Airbus A220 was turning off the runway when it went into the grass.
A passenger recalled the scary landing in an interview with ABC affiliate WCVB.
“I think it was the hard left – at first, it seemed like a windy day, a hard landing,” she said.
“That’s when you can tell when things were off, seeing the grass on either side.
“My heart dropped a little bit, kind of a rollercoaster feeling.”
The passenger said the pilot didn’t make announcements during the scene and only spoke after the plane came to a stop in the grass.
“They said that they had lost control of the steering on landing,” she explained.
The plane left Chicago at 9 am local time and was scheduled to land in Boston at 12:04 pm.
Skid marks could be seen on the runway to the gross, where the jet eventually came to a stop.
