JonBenét Ramsey’s father reportedly met with Colorado police on Monday regarding his daughter’s unsolved 1996 slaying.
According to Boulder police speaking to Fox News, Police Chief Stephen Redfearn along with the Operations Division recently met with Ramsey’s family for an update on the case. However, specific details of the discussion were not disclosed by the police.
John Ramsey, 80, said he meets with police at least once yearly to be briefed on their ongoing investigation.
The tragic incident involving 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey saw her being found severely injured in the basement of her Boulder residence, following a disappearance report and the discovery of a ransom note.
John Ramsey has been advocating for the Boulder police to reexamine evidence using more advanced genetic technology to potentially uncover new leads in the investigation of their daughter’s unresolved homicide. He has also appealed to the FBI to classify child murder as a federal offense, which would empower the agency to intervene automatically in cases concerning children aged 12 and below.
Specifically, John Ramsey wants investigators to test external male DNA that federal authorities disclosed in 1997.
“That’s an important meeting. We’re going to have a representative with us for one of these cutting-edge labs to explain what they can and can’t do. Hopefully, he will accept their help,” he told Fox last year, referring to a meeting he was to have with Boulder police in December.
No arrests have been made in the 1996 slaying. The slain girl’s mother, Patsy Ramsey, died of ovarian cancer in 2006.
